A GROUP OF AMERICAN STUDENTS VISITED IKV
A delegation of American students visited IKV on 17 July 2014 as part of their EU Study Tour, which was organized by the Freiburg University. Following a brief introduction of the institution, a team of researchers from IKV presented the participants with recent developments in the EU-Turkey relations. IKV General Secretary and Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, IKV Deputy-Secretary General and Researcher Director Melih Özsöz, Researchers Sema Çapanoğlu and Yeliz Şahin all held presentations shedding light on various aspects of Turkey-EU relations.
Following her presentation on the research and activities carried out by the IKV, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas gave information on Turkey-EU relations. Assoc. Prof. Nas talked about the latest developments in Turkey-EU relations and presented the current state of play in Turkey’s accession negotiations. IKV Researcher Sema Çapanoğlu, in her presentation on the Turkish economy, briefed the students about Turkey’s recent economic performance and Turkey-EU trade and investment relations. In his presentation on the role of communication in Turkey-EU relations IKV Deputy-Secretary General and Researcher Director Melih Özsöz analyzed public perceptions in various EU member states regarding Turkey’s EU membership and Turkish public opinion on EU membership. Finally, IKV Researcher Yeliz Şahin presented the latest tendencies and challenges in EU’s enlargement policy and talked about the recent debate about enlargement fatigue and the effects of the Eurozone debt crisis on the enlargement policy.
