Under the leadership of IKV Chairman, Ömer Cihad Vardan, a delegation from IKV visited Minister of Justice, Bekir Bozdağ on the 27th June 2014. IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof Çiğdem Nas, Deputy Secretary General and Research Director Melih Özsöz and Project Director Çisel İleri attended to the meeting which was held in the Ministry of the Justice in Ankara.

During the meeting, IKV Chairman Vardan gave information to Minister Bozdağ on the structure, aims and foreseen activities by IKV. During the meeting, the latest developments on Turkey-EU relations were discussed and exchanged views especially on the Chapter 24 that of Justice, Freedom and Security. In this respect, IKV Chairman Vardan ensured that IKV stressed at every occasion to the representatives of relevant institutions, particularly those of the European Commission on the necessity of opening this Chapter to negotiations. Vardan also stated that the latest developments on fundamental rights and freedoms urge the need even more to open this chapter to negotiation. In the meeting, Minister Bozdağ congratulated Vardan for his presidency and wished him success in his future endeavours.
