During his visit to Brussels on the 24th and 25th February, IKV Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan met with the representatives from the EU Council and the European Commission who are responsible for the relations with Turkey. IKV Chairman Vardan also met with the Permanent Representative of Turkey to the European Union, Selim Yener and some politicians of Turkish origin holding top posts in Belgium authorities.

During these meetings, IKV Chairman Vardan shared with EU authorities his perspective on Turkey-EU relations, Customs Union and Turkey’s EU accession process. In the course of the meetings, the importance of Turkey’s prospective EU membership  for both Turkey and the EU were highlighted. It has been also pointed out that the acceleration of the negotiation process will encourage and promote political reforms in Turkey.
