IKV İstanbul EU Information Centre, in cooperation with Ataşehir Municipality and the EU Delegation to Türkiye, held the event entitled “Streets Are Transforming Project Opening Ceremony and Closing of the Week” on 25 September 2026 as part of European Mobility Week.

The opening of the pedestrianised area on Ziya Gökalp Street, located in front of Ali Nihat Tarlan Primary School in Esatpaşa Neighbourhood, was held with the participation of students, families and neighbourhood residents. In the activities held on the street pedestrianised as part of the “Streets Are Transforming” project, students and families took part in various workshops to encourage mobility. Afterwards, awareness-raising activities were carried out with parents through various sports activities.

The theme of the campaign, organised by the EU every year between 16 and 22 September in Member States and candidate countries, was designated as “Mobility for Everyone”. In 2025, more than 2,700 cities and towns from 46 countries, along with more than 900 businesses, educational institutions, civil society organisations and citizen initiatives, participated in European Mobility Week.
