IKV Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu hosted Head of the Delegation of the EU to Türkiye ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut at the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry on 6 July 2022. In his opening speech at the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry Assembly meeting, Chairman Zeytinoğlu mentioned the problems hindering the progress of Türkiye-EU relations and stated that overcoming these blockages would be of great benefit for both sides. Chairman Zeytinoğlu emphasized that launching the Customs Union modernsiation process would also facilitate Türkiye's participation in the European Green Deal and that Türkiye's contributions, especially in renewable energies, would also be important for the EU.

Speaking during the keynote address session of the meeting, Ambassador Meyer-Landrut summarised the recent developments in Türkiye-EU relations. Ambassador Meyer-Landrut drew attention to the close cooperation between Türkiye and the EU on important issues such as migration, energy, security, trade and climate and underscored that Türkiye is a very important partner for the EU.
