IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas attended the closing meeting of the COBENEFITS Project on 23 June 2022 and delivered a speech in the panel session. The closing meeting of the Mobilizing the Social and Economic Co-benefits of Climate Action and Renewable Energy (COBENEFITS) Project carried out by the Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) was held in Ankara. The COBENEFITS project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). COBENEFITS cooperates with national authorities and knowledge partners in Germany, India, South Africa, Vietnam, and Türkiye to help them mobilise the co-benefits of climate action and renewable energy in their countries. The project is coordinated by the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS, lead) in partnership with the Renewables Academy (RENAC), the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU), International Energy Transition GmbH (IET) and, in Türkiye, Sabancı University-Istanbul Policy Center (IPC).

At the closing meeting of the project, the project's findings and policy recommendations were presented by the project partners and the research team. In the panel session, held under the moderation of Sabancı University IPC Climate Studies Coordinator Dr. Ümit Şahin with the participation of IKV Secretary General Çiğdem Nas, Prof. Ebru Voyvoda from the Middle East Technical University and Deputy Head of the Climate Change Department at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Dr. Abdulkadir Bektaş, Türkiye's climate change policies, the importance of the transition to renewable energy and the effects of the European Green Deal were discussed.
