On 12 April 2021, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated in the webinar organised by Çağ University EU Application and Research Center on "Latest Developments in Turkey-European Union Relations". Following her presentation on "Modernisation of the Turkey-EU Customs Union" Assoc. Prof. Nas answered questions of the webinar participants. In her presentation, IKV Secretary General stated that the Customs Union enables a further integration in the trade and economic dimensions of the bilateral relations alongside modernisation of laws and regulations positively affecting the national economy. Stressing that after 25 years of implementation to modernise the Turkey-EU Customs Union is an urgent need, Assoc. Prof. Nas indicated that negotiations were blocked due to political reasons. IKV Secretary General stated that the positive agenda proposed by the European Council included the modernisation of the Turkey-EU Customs Union and prioritised solving current issues concerning its functioning. Moreover, during the webinar, Prof. Ali Engin Oba from Çağ University delivered a presentation on "A Strategic Perspective on Turkey-EU Relations" while Assoc. Prof. Ahmet Atıl Aşıcı from Istanbul Technical University spoke on "Green Deal and Its Implications for Turkey".
