On 10 February 2021, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated in the “Europe 5.0” programme which was prepared by Global Relations Forum President retired Ambassador Selim Yenel and Paris Bosphorus Institute President Dr. Bahadır Kaleağası and broadcast on Medyascope TV. In the programme, IKV Secretary General Nas shared her views on the visa liberalisation process which forms an important aspect of Turkey-EU relations. Indicating that Turkey has fulfilled 66 of the 72 benchmarks in the visa liberalisation roadmap, IKV Secretary General Nas stressed that fulfilling the six remaining benchmarks would be important in advancing the process. Stating that the remaining benchmarks covered revision of the anti-terrorism legislation, the adoption of a comprehensive anti-corruption strategy, the signing of an operational cooperation agreement with Europol, cooperation with EU Member States on criminal matters, revision of the personal data legislation and the implementation of the Turkey-EU Readmission Agreement, IKV Secretary General Nas highlighted that the importance of the fulfilment of those constituted an integral part of the planned reform process in the areas of democracy, judiciary and fundamental rights.
