On 21 September 2020, IKV hosted a webinar entitled “Eastern Med Disputes and Turkey-EU Relations”. IKV Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu delivered the opening speech at the webinar which was organised ahead of the Special European Council on the Eastern Mediterranean. During the panel session chaired by IKV Vice-Chair Prof. Halûk Kabaalioğlu, leading scholars held an in depth discussion concerning the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean. Director of Walther Schücking International Law Institute at Kiel University Prof. Nele Matz-Lück evaluated the Turkish-Greek dispute in the Eastern Mediterranean from a legal and economic perspective while TOBB University of Economics and Technology Law Faculty member Prof. Sanem Baykal examined the EU’s position regarding the dispute. Prof. Beril Tuğrul from Istanbul Technical University’s Energy Institute analysed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean from the perspective of energy politics. Finally, Kadir Has University faculty member and International Relations Council President Prof. Mustafa Aydın provided a strategic analysis of the dispute.
