BRUSSELS STUDY VISIT ORGANISED UNDER IPA II PROJECT
On the last day of the study visit, which included visits and interviews with various institutions, a workshop was organised at the IKV Brussels office in a bid to bring together experts on social impact and monitoring processes. During the two-session workshop, participants who were representatives of CSOs and EU institutions from Belgium, Poland, Portugal and Romania presented examples of their work on monitoring and social impact assessment methodologies.
During the study visit, one of the institutions that the project team paid a visit to was the European Commission Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Directorate General (DG NEAR), in a bid to discuss Turkey-EU relations and the third term of the Financial Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA III).
Another meeting was held with Sevda Kılıçalp, who is the Thematic Networks Coordinator at European Foundation Center and different approaches regarding civil society monitoring as well as social impact assessment were discussed.
The project team also had meetings with Andrea Karlsson from European Endowment for Democracy, an independent organisation granting civil society studies in the field of democracy, and with the research and innovation (R&I) expert Bea Mahieu from the consulting firm Technopolis Group. The project team exchanged ideas on the challenges faced throughout social impact analysis and civil society monitoring. Moreover, a visit was paid to the European Commission Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG ECHO).
