On 29 March 2019, IKV, TAV and YADA organised a workshop regarding the impact of EU grants under Instrument for Pre-Accession II (IPA II) on civil society in Turkey. The workshop was held within the scope of the “EU Monitoring  Network” project, which is carried out by TAV, YADA Foundation and IKV under CSO Partnerships and Networks on Strengthening Cooperation between the Public Sector and the CSOs Grant Scheme supported by the Republic of Turkey and the EU. The workshop brought together CSO representatives and academics in a bid to discuss the challenges and shortcomings of grant schemes targeting the civil society in Turkey. A wide range of CSO representatives working in different fields had the opportunity to express the issues they are facing on a daily basis.

The challenges, which have been expressed during the workshop, were mainly concentrated on deficiencies concerning human resources and financing, the lack of cooperation among CSOs as well as the crucial importance of social impact analyses evaluating project outcomes. All the participants presented their views on budget and duration of the actions proposed under grant schemes. Moreover, application criteria, monitoring and evaluation process of granted projects were discussed in detail during the workshop.
