IKV CHAIRMAN HAD CONTACTS IN BRUSSELS
At the meeting held in Brussels on 2-4 May, IKV Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and the accompanying committee came together with Permanent Delegate of Turkey to the EU in Brussels Faruk Kaymakcı, Turkish Ambassador to Brussels Levent Gümrükçü and Brussels Consul General Dilşad Kırbaşlı Karaoğlu on the first day of the visit. During the meetings, the current status of Turkey-EU relations and Turkey-Belgium relations were discussed.
IKV Chairman and the accompanying committee continued their contacts in the presence of the EU institutions, and on the second day of the visit met with Anna Vezyroglou, member of the Cabinet of High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini and European External Action Service Head of Turkey Division Javier Niño Perez. During the meeting, views on accession negotiations and different dimensions of Turkey-EU relations were exchanged.
IKV Chairman and his accompanying committee came together with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker during a breakfast on the last day of the visit. While informing Juncker regarding IKV Public Opinion Survey and IKV activities, Chairman Zeytinoğlu asked Juncker’s support for Turkey on the way of becoming a full EU member. Juncker expressed his support for Turkey’s accession.
IKV committee consisted of IKV Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, Brussels Representative M. Haluk Nuray, Research Director Çisel İleri, Senior Researcher Yeliz Şahin and Coordinator of EU Information Centre Press Officer Mehmet Poyrazlı.
