Consul General of the Netherlands in İstanbul Bart van Bolhuis paid a visit to IKV on 26 January 2018. Consul General, who has been on this duty since August 2017, met with IKV Vice-Chairman Halûk Kabaalioğlu. During the meeting, the current developments in Turkey-EU relations and the reform process of the EU were touched upon. Information regarding IKV’s survey on EU perception and support for the EU membership in Turkish public opinion was exhanged. Consul General who evaluated the support rate of 78.9% for Turkey’s EU membership as a positive outcome, obtained information regarding the other results of the survey. After having expressed that the Netherlands puts support behind Turkey’s EU membership, van Bolhuis enunciated his hope that the relations will progress on the main issues such as the modernisation of the Customs Union.
