NEW IKV PUBLICATION: WHAT IS THE STATE OF PLAY IN THE CHAPTERS OPENED IN TURKEY’S EU ACCESSION NEGOTIATIONS? (IN TURKISH)

As we prepare to mark the 10th year in Turkey’s EU accession negotiations, so far 14 of the 35 chapters have been opened for negotiations and only one has been provisionally closed. The opening of negotiations on nearly half of the 35 chapters and the closing of all chapters remain blocked by the European Council or by the unilateral vetoes of certain member states.

In the current context,  the latest IKV publication entitled “What is the state of play in the chapters opened in Turkey’s EU accession negotiations?”offers an insight not only into the latest developments in the EU acquis, but also into Turkey’s level of preparedness in meeting the closing benchmarks in the chapters opened so far to negotiations. The publication which is a collection of the essays written for the Foundation’s monthly magazine İKV Dergisi by IKV experts each specializing on the relevant negotiating chapter, has been updated in line with the outcomes of the European Commission’s latest progress report on Turkey.

The publication constitutes a valuable resource for monitoring progress in Turkey’s alignment with the EU in the chapters that were opened for negotiations namely Science and Research, Enterprise & Industrial Policy, Financial Control, Statistics, Consumer & Health Protection, Trans-European Networks, Intellectual Property Law, Company Law, Free Movement of Capital, Information Society and Media, Taxation, Environment, Food Safety, Veterinary & Phytosanitary Policy and Regional Policy & Coordination of Structural Instruments.
