The Third of the International Bicycle Festival was held in cooperation between IKV EU Information Centre and the Turkish Cyclist Association with a high level of participation. The cyclists, who participated to various trips across Istanbul during four days, attended the festival’s last day within the framework of the Intercontinental Istanbul Bicycle Tour organised at the occasion of the World Environment Day.

The opening of the Intercontinental Istanbul Bicycle Tour was realised by IKV Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and Cyclists Association Chairman Murat Suyabatmaz. Over 10,000 cyclists pedalled from Şişli to Kadıköy, starting at Lütfü Kırdar Congress Centre.

Apart from Turkey, many cyclists from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and also from Europe attended the event. Starting at Lütfü Kırdar Congress Centre, the bicycle tour continued on Halaskar Gazi Street, then towards Büyükdere Street, then from Yıldız Posta Street to Barbaros Boulevard, and then towards the Bosphorus Bridge. The cyclists formed a colourful bunch on the Bosphorus Bridge and completed the tour upon their arrival at Kadıköy. 10 participants were awarded with a bicycle at the end of the festival.
