IKV SECRETARY GENERAL NAS SPOKE AT A PANEL ORGANISED BY THE İSTANBUL CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY
The panel titled "Made in Europe Criterion: Key Elements of Competitive European Industry and Potential Implications for Türkiye", organised by the İstanbul Chamber of Industry on 17 February 2026, as part of the European Enterprise Network Project, was held with broad participation from the public, industrial, and business sectors. The program, hosted by ICI Board Member Celal Kaya, comprehensively addressed the effects of European production criteria on global supply chains and their potential implications for Türkiye.
Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, who participated in the panel discussions, drew attention to the accelerated transformation in EU industrial policies following the Green Deal, stating that developments such as the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war have exposed vulnerabilities in supply chains. Assoc. Prof. Nas emphasised that the "Made in Europe" approach is shaped by the goals of economic security, reducing strategic dependencies, and competitiveness. He also pointed out the importance of updating the Customs Union for Türkiye and addressing the asymmetric effects arising from the EU’s free trade agreements with third countries.
The program concluded with a question-and-answer session following the panellists’ evaluations.
