IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated in the "Nature-Based Discovery and Sustainable Living Experience" programme organised by the Kocaeli EU Information Centre on 26 July 2026, as part of World Nature Conservation Day.

Speaking during the programme's information session, Assoc. Prof. Nas delivered a presentation on the EU's environmental and climate policies. She noted that although the EU has expanded its economy by 70% since 1990, it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 40%, highlighting that this achievement has been driven by the transition to renewable energy, improvements in energy efficiency and structural changes in the economy.

During the programme, participants explored the value of nature through a guided forest walk, ecosystem observation activities and a meditation session. They also had the opportunity to learn about sustainable production techniques during a tatakizome (ecoprint) workshop. The programme concluded with a visit to the Seed Bank.
