IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas took part as a speaker in the event organised by TÜSİAD and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Türkiye Office on 3 June 2026.

The opening speeches were delivered by TÜSİAD Extended Board Member Levent Kömür and Friedrich Naumann Foundation Senior Project Manager Elif Menderes. The panel titled “EU–Türkiye Economic Integration and the Future of the Customs Union” featured Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, SWP/CATS researcher Dr. Yaşar Aydın, Research Istanbul founder Can Selçuki, and TÜSİAD Working Group Chair and EY Sector Leader Sercan Bahadır as speakers, while the session was moderated by journalist Barçın Yinanç.

The panel discussed how geopolitical transformation is reshaping economic interdependencies and whether Türkiye’s strategic importance for the EU is increasing or decreasing. The discussions also addressed the modernisation of the Customs Union and the EU’s draft Industrial Acceleration Act.
