Brussels Office

IKV Brussels Office was established in 1984 in line with the developments in Turkey-EU relations as well as IKV’s widening scope of activities pursued vis-à-vis the EU. IKV Brussels Office is the first representative office formed by the private sector of a non-EU Member State for lobbying activities and establishing contacts with the Community’s decision-makers and European economic and industrial representative institutions in Brussels.

Together with this initiative, Turkish private sector has revealed its future-oriented perspective and strategic decision from a political and economic approach with each passing year. IKV’s Representative Office in Brussels leaves 39 years behind in 2023. Since its establishment, activities and responsibilities of the IKV Brussels Office have changed according to the changes in Turkey-EU relations, in the EU, and within the larger European continent itself.

The functions of IKV Brussels Office are mainly as follow:

  • To represent the Turkish business world vis-à-vis the EU institutions, to communicate views and opinions to the official EU bodies and private sector representative organizations;
  • To monitor the developments closely through continuous contact with the EU institutions as well as to inform the business world in a timely manner;
  • To create cooperation opportunities with the EU, to establish contact, maintain dialogue and coordination with effective sectors within the EU;
  • To assist the Turkish private sector in developing new projects, to run lobbying activities aiming to create a favorable public opinion towards Turkey’s EU membership.
