IKV SECRETARY GENERAL NAS SPOKE AT THE PANEL ON TÜRKİYE–EU RELATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated as a speaker on 22 December 2025 in the closing meeting of the Integreutor Jean Monnet module, conducted within İstanbul Technical University by faculty member Assoc. Prof. Alper Yurttaş.
In her speech at the online meeting, Assoc. Prof. Nas assessed the developments that have marked Türkiye–EU relations and stated that the EU process still maintains its relevance for young people. Assoc. Prof. Nas stated that the EU sets norms and standards in a wide range of areas from the environment and consumer rights to the protection of personal data and artificial intelligence, and that it shapes the future. Touching also on the problems in Türkiye–EU relations, Assoc. Prof. Nas underlined that despite these problems the relationship offers significant opportunities. The other speaker was Beyza Turan, Head of the Department of Programming at the Directorate General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation of the EU Presidency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“EU Integration and Türkiye – IntegrEUtor” is a Jean Monnet Module project financed by the Erasmus+ EU programme, covering the fields of education, training, youth, and sport. Through the IntegrEUtor project, it is aimed to enhance knowledge and awareness among İTÜ students in the field of the EU and Türkiye–EU relations and to encourage academics from different disciplines to carry out joint work in the field of EU studies. The main outputs of the project consist of a course and an annual workshop designed by the project team. The project team is composed of Dr. Alper Yurttaş (Project Coordinator), Assoc. Prof. Altuğ Günar, Assoc. Prof. Ebru Dulekgürgen, and Dr. Didem Özgür.
