IKV PARTICIPATED IN THE DELPHI ECONOMIC FORUM

IKV Media Advisor Mehmet Poyrazlı attended the Fourth Delphi Economic Forum Brussels held on 6 November 2025. Speakers at the forum included European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans Costas Kadis, former Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, and Director-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood at the European Commission Gert Jan Koopman.

The first panel highlighted the challenges facing Europe’s external actions and relations in a global environment shaped by ongoing conflicts and fundamental shifts in European foreign policy. The second panel examined the critical role of key raw materials in Europe’s green, digital and defence transitions. Supply chain vulnerabilities stemming from high import dependency and geopolitical risks were addressed. The third panel examined how the EU has developed and implemented its trade strategies in response to the current global climate, characterised by increasing tariff disputes and protectionist measures.

The fourth panel addressed how the GCASC and Greece would tackle key challenges in Europe during their respective presidencies, strengthen unity among member states, and advance important policy agendas. The fifth session discussed how Europe’s energy security could be ensured through strategies aimed at accelerating energy independence and self-sufficiency through regional cooperation in terms of green transformation in the Eastern Mediterranean and South-Eastern Europe.

The sixth panel discussed the strategic challenges Europe would face, including the significant financial, military and political investments it would need to make, should it assume primary responsibility for its own defence in a scenario where the US reduced its military commitment. The seventh panel concluded that EU enlargement is a geopolitical necessity not only for the Union but also for candidate countries, benefiting both current member states and candidate countries by strengthening the collective security and stability of the entire region. The final panel analysed the economic growth prospects of South-Eastern Europe and discussed strategies for achieving greater economic integration with the EU in order to encourage investment and innovation.

During the forum, IKV Media Advisor Mehmet Poyrazlı met with former Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, who is also a former intern at the foundation, and briefed Schinas on the foundation’s activities.
