IKV ORGANISED A PANEL AT THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CONGRESS
IKV organised a panel at the “IX. Congress of International Relations of the Civil Service” held at Ankara University’s Faculty of Political Sciences on 16-17 October 2025. The theme of the session organised by the IKV at the congress, titled “The Construction and Transformation of the International System from 1789 to the Present”, was “Türkiye’s Place in a Changing Europe”. In addition to IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, speakers at the panel included TOBB University of Economics and Technology Faculty Member Prof. Sanem Baykal, Kadir Has University Faculty Member Prof. Sinem Akgül Açıkmeşe, and İstanbul Bilgi University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. İnan Rüma. The panel discussed how relations with Türkiye have been shaped during the transformation process the EU is undergoing. Following the presentations, the speakers answered questions from the audience, which consisted of faculty members and students.
In her presentation, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Nas discussed the European Green Deal, the green transformation taking place in the EU, and its implications for Türkiye-EU relations. Assoc. Prof. Nas emphasised the impact of the green transformation on Türkiye-EU relations and stated that despite the frozen accession process, Türkiye attaches importance to compliance with EU legislation and drew attention to the connection between progress in areas such as climate law and the emissions trading system and the Constitutional Court.
