IKV CHAIRPERSON ZEYTİNOĞLU HELD TALKS IN BRUSSELS
IKV Chairperson Ayhan Zeytinoğlu held a series of meetings in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, between 12-14 March 2025. Chairperson Zeytinoğlu travelled to Brussels in order to receive the views of those concerned in the EU institutions on Türkiye-EU relations and to convey IKV's views on this issue and carried out activities aimed at contributing to Türkiye's EU integration process, which is one of the main objectives of the Foundation. IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, IKV Deputy Secretary General M. Gökhan Kilit and IKV Brussels Representative Haluk Nuray also took part in the delegation.
Chairperson Zeytinoğlu and the accompanying delegation started their Brussels visit with a visit to Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Türkiye to the EU Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, at his official residence. Chairperson Zeytinoğlu thanked him for receiving the IKV delegation and gave information about the activities of the foundation and the activities planned for 2025. During the meeting, current issues in Türkiye-EU relations were also discussed.
Chairperson Zeytinoğlu and his delegation also met with Director of the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Adrienn Kiraly, Head of the Türkiye Desk Stephanie Pamies and Economic Desk Officer Hannah McDonnell. During the meeting, while exchanging views on the accession negotiations process and different dimensions of Türkiye-EU relations, the steps to be taken to revitalise relations were emphasised.
On the last day of the visits, IKV Chairperson Zeytinoğlu and his delegation visited Acting Head of the Türkiye/Eastern Mediterranean Section of the European External Action Service Ioannis Begkos. During the meeting, possible areas of co-operation between Türkiye and the EU in terms of foreign and security policy were discussed.
