IKV İstanbul EU Information Centre in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Türkiye and Association of Civil Society Development Center (STGM) organised a meeting titled “Current Trends in Civil Society Financing in Türkiye and the Role of the EU” on 5 March 2025 at TOBB Plaza.

The opening speeches of the meeting with the theme of World Civil Society Organisations Day were delivered by IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas and Head of Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Justice and Home Affairs Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye Jean Barbé. The meeting continued with presentations by Program Manager of the EU Delegation to Türkiye Dr. Eser Canalioğlu Çınar and Tezcan Eralp Abay from STGM.

The meeting was followed by a roundtable discussion where the views and suggestions of civil society organisation representatives were received. In this section, the challenges faced by CSOs in Türkiye in accessing resources in recent years, the effectiveness and efficiency of the EU's funding mechanisms for CSOs in Türkiye, and the expected future role of the EU in financing civil society in Türkiye were discussed.
