IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated as a speaker in the webinar titled “Türkiye-EU Relations and Türkiye’s Alignment with the Green Deal,” as part of the “Seminar Series at the Dawn of the Century of Türkiye” organised by the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Mediterranean Policies Implementation and Research Center on 28 November 2024. Assoc. Prof. Nas discussed the current state of Türkiye-EU relations, outlining challenges and opportunities for the future. The webinar was moderated by Faculty Member at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and Director of the Mediterranean Policies Implementation and Research Center Assoc. Prof. Altuğ Günar.

In her presentation, Assoc. Prof. Nas delved into the European Green Deal, a strategy launched in 2019 and examined its significant implications for Türkiye-EU relations. Nas emphasised that the Green Deal is not just a policy, but a transformative force reshaping the EU’s economy, politics, and the functioning of its internal market. This transformation is not limited to EU Member States but also affects candidate countries and other nations closely connected to the EU, highlighting the importance of Türkiye aligning itself with the Green Deal. Secretary General Nas outlined the steps Türkiye has taken recently to align with the Green Deal while emphasising the need to strengthen these efforts further.
