IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas attended the “High-Level Forum on Enlargement” organised by the European Economic and Social Committee on 24 October 2024. Opening speeches were delivered by President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) Oliver Röpke, Member of the European Commission in charge of Jobs & Social Rights Nicolas Schmit and Member of the European Commission in charge of Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi. The forum discussed the importance of the EU Enlargement process, the role of civil society in this process, social rights and social dialogue. The High-Level Forum, which was combined with the 591^st General Assembly of the EESC, was attended by over 100 high-level representatives from candidate countries, as well as EESC members, Commission and Member State officials. Civil society representatives from Türkiye also took part in the forum, as well as representatives of civil society organisations that have the status of “Candidate Member for Expansion” initiated by the EESC. IKV Secretary General Nas attended the High-Level Forum on Enlargement and met with EESC and NGO representatives.
