IKV organised a conference titled “The Current Situation in Türkiye-EU Relations” in cooperation with Marmara University Institute of European Studies on 9 May 2024. The event started with a music concert prepared by Marmara University Music Department and continued with the opening speech of Marmara University Vice Rector Prof. Mustafa Çelen as part of 9 May Europe Day.

Following the opening session, the session was chaired by IKV Vice President Prof. Halûk Kabaalioğlu and the keynote speaker was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay. Vice President Prof. Kabaalioğlu gave a historical overview of important turning points in Türkiye-EU relations. Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Bozay stated that Türkiye is a very important country for the EU in terms of its own future at a time of increasing crisis in the international arena. The session ended with questions from the participants.
