IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas attended the workshop titled "Eastern Mediterranean Climate Change: Green Transition to a Low Carbon Economy Based on Renewable Energy" organized by TEPAV and gave a speech on 6 October 2023. In the first session of the workshop, which was opened by TEPAV Founding Director Prof. Güven Sak, the steps taken against climate change and the situation of the Eastern Mediterranean were discussed. In the session moderated by French Development Agency (AFD) Climate and Environment Sectors Senior Project Manager Zeren Erik Yaşar, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Nas as well as Boğaziçi University Climate Change and Policies Application and Research Center Director Prof. Levent Kurnaz and Sustainable Economy and Finance Research Association (SEFİA) Founding Director Bengisu Özenç made a speech. Assoc. Prof. Nas emphasized that the Eastern Mediterranean is a region experiencing the most serious effects of climate change, and drew attention to the importance of cooperation against climate change among the countries of this region. Stating that there are some conditions that hinder cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Nas offered policy suggestions on the subject. The workshop continued with a question and answer session and sessions titled good practice examples of countries against Climate Change and an overview of Türkiye and what needs to be done.
