IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas gave a seminar on “Turkey-EU Relations”, at the webinar organised by the International Academy of Politics and History (USTA) on 27 January 2022. Assoc. Prof. Nas briefly touched upon the history of Turkey-EU relations and talked about how relations have evolved to date.

Assoc. Prof. Nas stated that efforts to revive Turkey-EU relations were ongoing within the scope of the “positive agenda” which was put forward in the wake of the disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean in 2019 and 2020. Highlighting that the negotiations between Turkey and the EU on the modernisation of the Customs Union constituted the most important aspect in this context, Assoc. Prof. Nas stated that trade barriers and problems along with political disagreements continued to hamper the process.
