IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated in the panel session on “Challenges of EU Trade Agreements: The Case of Turkey, the UK and Norway” in the 12th Bosphorus Summit organised on 7 December 2021 under the theme of “Meeting the Challenges for A Better World”. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı delivered the opening speech at the panel session which was moderated by Prof. Gül Günver Turan and included as speakers British Ambassador to Turkey Sir Dominick Chilcott, Norwegian Ambassador to Turkey Erling Skjönsberg and Global Relations Forum President Ambassador (R) Selim Yenel alongside IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas. Assoc. Prof. Nas highlighted the importance of the Customs Union between Turkey and the EU and talked about the need to modernise it. IKV Secretary General Nas stated that overcoming the problems in the functioning of the Customs Union and expanding it to new areas such as agriculture, services and public procurement should be handled within the framework of the modernisation of the Customs Union. Nas also pointed out that the European Green Deal was an important element that should be taken into account in this process.
