IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas spoke at the first webinar of the seminar series titled “Green Transformation in İzmir” on 22 October 2021. The webinar was organised by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir Economic Development Coordination Board (IEKKK) and İzmir Sustainable Urban Development Network (SKGA). Opening speeches of the webinar were delivered by Tunç Soyer, the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Sıtkı Şükürer, IEKKK President, Atilla Sezgin, IEKKK Sustainability Committee Chairman and Ruhisu Can Al, İzmir SKGA Coordinator. The organisers of the webinar were İzmir SKGA Advisory Board Member and İzmir Yaşar University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Meneviş Uzbay and UN SDSN Turkey Coordinator and İzmir SKGA Executive Board Member Bahar Özay.

In the webinar moderated by Bahar Özay, Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas gave a presentation titled "EU's Fit for 55 Package and Turkey”. In her presentation, Assoc. Prof. Nas discussed the elements proposed under the “Fit to 55” Package announced on 14 July 2021. Focusing on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism proposed by the European Commission, Assoc. Prof. Nas underlined its effects on Turkey.
