IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas participated in the panel titled “Economy, Communication, Relations Between Cities and Innovative Approaches in Production During the Climate Crisis” co-organised, within the scope of İzmir International Fair, by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir Chamber of Commerce and İzmir Foundation, and hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality under the auspices of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Trade on 3 September 2021. IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Nas gave a presentation on “The Economic Impact of the Climate Crisis”, in which she emphasised that the negative effects of the climate crisis on the environment cause economic loss. Biodiversity loss and the deterioration of the environment in specific, when combined with the increase in extraordinary climate events, result in significant decrease in GDP. In order to fight climate change, Assoc. Prof. Nas stressed the importance of giving priority to decarbonisation and the transition to renewable energy for this to take place. Other speakers in the panel moderated by İzmir Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Prof. Mustafa Tanyeri were Sun Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
