IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas spoke at the webinar titled "Future of Industry and the European Green Deal” organised by Kocaeli EU Information Center on 9 June 2021 as part of World Environment Day events. At the webinar, IKV Secretary General Nas delivered a presentation on the European Green Deal and its effects on Turkey. Stating that the European Green Deal has triggered a radical transformation across all sectors ranging from agriculture to industry on the one hand and from energy to transportation on the other, Nas stressed that despite the associated challenges, this transformation was essential to combat climate change and reach the net zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050. Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Nas pointed out that as an EU candidate and Customs Union partner, it would not be possible for Turkey to stay out of this process and said that it was important for Turkey to plan its greenhouse gas emissions in line with reaching climate neutrality and adopt a national strategy. The other speaker of the webinar alongside IKV Secretary General Nas was SEFiA (Sustainable Economics and Finance Research Association) Director Bengisu Vural Özenç.
