IKV SECRETARY GENERAL NAS TALKED ABOUT THE GREEN DEAL IN MEDITERRANEAN EXPORTERS ASSOCIATIONS WEBINAR
IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas gave a speech about the European Green Deal and its effects on Turkey in the webinar organised by the Mediterranean Exporters Association on 7 June 2021. Assoc. Prof. Nas highlighted that the European Green Deal had triggered a comprehensive transformation that changes production and consumption methods and patterns. Emphasizing that standards for products have changed in the EU, Turkey's most important export market, Secretary General Nas indicated that renewable energy, sustainable products, reuse, and recycling are now themes which have gained priority and importance and that reducing the carbon footprint has as a result become even more critical. Reminding that the EU's carbon regulation mechanism makes it compulsory for carbon-intensive products entering the EU market to obtain a carbon certificate, Assoc. Prof. Nas stated that this would put the sectors which do not make the necessary transformation to reduce their emissions at a disadvantage. The webinar ended with a question and answer session after the presentation.
