IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas spoke at the webinar hosted by Özyeğin University's Diplomacy Club on 7 May 2021. IKV Secretary General Nas gave a presentation on “Climate Crisis and European Green Deal” and reminded that the phenomenon of global climate change requires approaching the problems from a different perspective. Indicating that the Paris Climate Agreement constitutes the most recent link of the initiatives within the framework of the UN, IKV Assoc. Prof. Nas stated that although Turkey has signed the agreement, it has not yet ratified it. Nas highlighted that with the European Green Deal the EU is a model in the field of climate change with has therefore endorsed the objective of becoming climate-neutral by 2050. Indicating that as an EU candidate country and a Customs Union partner, the ongoing process closely concerns Turkey, Nas underlined that the transformation and the transition to circular economy envisaged by the Green Deal will affect all economic, trading and political parters of the EU.
