On 30 March 2021 IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas was the guest of a webinar on "European Council and Beyond" organised by Istanbul Policy Center (IPC under "Pandemic and Society" webinar series. In the webinar moderated by the IPC Director Prof. Fuat Keyman, Nilgün Arısan Eralp from TEPAV, Atila Eralp and Prof. Senem Aydın Düzgit from IPC assessed the conclusions of the European Council held on 25-26 March as well as its implications on Turkey. Arguing that conclusions of the Summit were crucial regarding the future of Turkey-EU relations, Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas stated that we should wait for the next European Council to be held in June to be able to implement positive agenda. IKV Secretary General Nas indicated that the EU focus mostly on foreign policy and state of play in the Eastern Mediterranean in its relations with Turkey but also stressed that Turkey's alignment with political criteria preserves its importance. Moreover Assoc. Prof. Nas indicated that ensuring progress in Turkey-EU relations via both diplomacy and reforms would be important for the alignment process with the European Green Deal and digitalisation priorities.
