IKV, TEPAV AND IPC PUBLISHED A JOINT POLICY BRIEF
On 24 March 2021, IKV, TEPAV and IPC published a joint policy brief titled "Turkey-EU Relations before the March Summit: The Way Forward" ahead of the 25-26 March European Council meeting. In the policy brief, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, IPC Director Prof. Fuat Keyman, IPC Academic Research Coordinator Prof. Senem Aydın-Düzgit, IPC Senior Researcher Prof. Atila Eralp and TEPAV EU Studies Centre Director Nilgün Arısan-Eralp stress the importance of reviving Turkey-EU relations on the basis of mutual benefits and common values. Analysing the situation ahead of the EU Summit seen crucial in this regard, the authors propose modernisation of the Customs Union, cooperation on migration and refugees, visa liberalisation along with thematic issues such as energy and transportation as areas which could provide for a revitalisation in relations and focus on the European Green Deal and the digital market as areas for potential cooperation. Indicating that the perspective for full membership remains valid in the medium to long term, the authors stress the importance of political, legal and economic reforms in the process.
