IKV CHAIRMAN ZEYTİNOĞLU ATTENDED TURKEY-QATAR BUSINESS FORUM
IKV Chairman Zeytinoğlu, attended the Turkey-Qatar Business Forum that trade relations between Turkey and Qatar were discussed. Mohamed bin Jawhar al-Mohamed, who is the member of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Board of Directors as well as other numerous company representatives from the two countries attended the forum that was held in Istanbul on 21 November 2019.
IKV Chairman Zeytinoğlu said that the Turkish business community has always been close to Qatar and they work with the Qatar Chamber on many platforms. IKV Chairman Zeytinoğlu continued as follows: “10 years ago, the capital of Qatar invested in our country 100 million dollars, now this figure has reached 2.5 billion dollars. The value of the projects undertaken by Turkish companies in Qatar achieved 17 billion dollars." by indicating Turkey and Qatar's mutual trade volume is estimated as 3 billion dollars.
Zeytinoğlu stated that the Emir of Qatar, the Government of Qatar and the Qatari business community are on Turkey's side by reminding that the first statement supporting Turkey thereafter the 15 July coup attempt came from Qatar. Zeytinoğlu also noted that Qatar supported the Operation Peace Spring that was launched against terrorist organizations in northern Syria.
Zeytinoğlu continued his words with the following statements: “We never forget people who support us in our difficult times. Similarly, when Qatar faced regional problems, Turkey and the Turkish business community sided with their Qatari friends. We have given both diplomatic and de facto support to Qatar.
While 10 years ago, our mutual trade was behind half a billion dollars, now we have reached 3 billion dollars. While the Qatari capital invested in our country 10 years ago was 100 million dollars, now this figure is 2.5 billion dollars. The value of the projects undertaken by Turkish companies in Qatar reached 17 billion dollars. These are very important developments.
