Although public opinion and public perceptions have always played an important role in Turkey’s relations with the EU, following the launch of EU accession negotiations, this role has gained prominence. This has to do with the fact that EU membership, rather than being solely regarded as a foreign policy issue, implies societal transformation.

The study, which has been jointly commissioned with the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) thanks to the support of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), and conducted by research company MetroPOLL, aims to identify the level of support for EU and perceptions on Europe among Turkish public opinion. The public opinion survey is based on the previous surveys conducted by IKV in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
