The EU have rearranged the legislation on the protection of personal data through the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which was enacted on 25.05.2018. As a result of this new regulation, companies operating in the EU became obliged to comply with the requirements of the regulation, and in the case of non-compliance extremely high administrative penalties are foreseen.

In this context, the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), together with the Muhtaranlar Attorney Partnership, will hold a seminar on June 6, 2018 in TOBB Istanbul Service Building at 09: 30-12: 00.

In our seminar we aim to discuss the following questions:

- Which Turkish companies do the new GDPR apply to?

- What are the novelties brought about by the GDPR and what is the change in the EU about the data protection process?

- What are the differences between the Personal Data Protection Law with the law number 6698 and the GDPR?

- Do compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law mean compliance to the GDPR? Is an update of the Personal Data Protection Law within the scope of the GDPR on the agenda?

- What are the penalties that the Turkish companies may face if the obligations arising from the GDPR are not met?

- How can the compliance process with the GDPR be carried out most effectively by our companies?

By answering these questions, we aim to inform the participants about this new legislation which will directly affect our companies.
