ÖMER ÇELIK HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS THE NEW MINISTER FOR EU AFFAIRS OF THE 65TH GOVERNMENT

Ömer Çelik has been appointed as the new Minister for EU Affairs of the 65th Government formed by the new Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım. Ömer Çelik previously held the position of Minister of Culture and Tourism. Çelik will also serve as the Chief Negotiator within the Ministry of EU Affairs.

Ömer Çelik graduated from Gazi Universitys Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and he earned a masters degree in Political Science from the same universitys Graduate School of Social Sciences. Upon which he became a journalist and politician.

He joined afterwards the Justice and Development Party and he was elected to Parliament as a deputy from Adana for three consecutive terms in 2002, 2007 and 2011. Since March 2010, he has served as the Vice-Chairman responsible for Foreign Affairs and in addition, he also became the chairman of Turkey-USA Inter- Parliamentary Friendship Group . He also serve as the Minister of Culture and Tourism during the period from 24 January 2013 and 28 August 2015.
