IKV BRUSSELS REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDED THE WORKSHOP OF CIVIL SOCIETY DIALOGUE

IKV Brussels Representative Haluk Nuray attended the Dialogue for Effective Communication on EU Issues Workshop which was held in Ankara on 2-3 May 2016 within the framework of the Civil Society Dialogue initiative. This workshop was organised with the aim of bringing together representatives from the media, civil society organisations and public institutions and informing the public regarding the effect of EU accession reforms in our daily lives.

IKV Brussels Representative Haluk Nuray, which was one of the discussants of the first session, was accompanied by European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) Brussels Representative Marco Carnesecchi and Press Club Brussels Europe Honorary President Maria Laura whose organisation is aiming at bringing together established and guest journalists in Brussels for professional reasons.

The opening remarks of the workshop were realised by Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry for EU Affairs Dr. Mehmet Cangir who stressed the importance of the active participation of local authorities in the process of creating an effective dialogue between the institutions. He also added that the Ministry for EU Affairs is carrying out activities aimed at professional groups on an institutional basis.

Highlighting that the Ministry for EU Affairs is carrying out projects with either its own or EU resources in order to ensure an effective communication between civil society, the media and the institutions, Mehmet Cangir added that over 350 projects have been realised within the framework of the Civil Society Dialogue initiative thanks to IPA funds.  Approximately 43 million euros of resources have been used in that respect.
