High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini announced on 31 August 2015 that German Ambassador his Excellency Hansjörg Haber has been appointed as Head of EU Delegation to Turkey.

Ambassador Haber who is currently serving as German Ambassador in Cairo started his diplomatic carrier in 1984. Ambassador Haber studied at the University of Munich where he obtained his Master Degree in Economics. After completing his Foreign Service Training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany between 1982 and 1984, he started his diplomatic carrier.  Ambassador Haber served as Political Counsellor to the German Embassy in Ankara between 1992 and 1996. He is fluent in English, French, Russian and Turkish.

The EU Delegation to Turkey is carrying out activities since 1999 with the official recognition of Turkey’s candidature to the EU with the aim of supporting Turkey-EU relations and meeting the needs of both parties. There are currently around 120 Turkish and EU citizens working at the EU Delegation in Turkey.

Former Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Stefano Manservisi had been appointed as Head of Cabinet to High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
