IKV VICE CHAIRMAN PROF. DR. KABAALIOĞLU GAVE A SPEECH AT THE POLISH INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS INSTITUTE

IKV Vice Chairman and Yeditepe University Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Halûk Kabaalioğlu shared his thoughts and information on the current status of Turkey-EU relations during a conference entitled the “Prospects of EU Enlargement: Time for Consolidation?”  which was organized at the Polish International Relations Institute.

The conference had been opened by the Director of the Representation of the European Commission in Poland Ewa Synowies at the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the establishment of Turkish-Polish relations. The current status of the accession countries has been evaluated by the European Commission Enlargement Policy and Strategic Office Vice-Chairman Allan Jones.

Although Anna Sochanska, from the European Office of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed that Turkey is an important country for the EU, she also explained that the negative points stressed by the last Progress Report had increased. During the conference, the representative from the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) Nilgün Arısan and the Undersecretary from the Turkish Embassy İstem Çırçıroğlu gave also detailed information about the Commission’s Progress Report and the current status of the Turkish economy.  The last speech was delivered by Director of the European College at Natolin Prof. Dr. Nanette Neuwahl who is also Chairman of the Jean Monnet Course at the Faculty of Law of Montreal University.
