IKV delegation visited German Consul General her Excellency Jutta Wolke and General Consul-Adjoint Dr. Philipp Deichmann in Istanbul on the 22nd August 2014. IKV Chairman Vardan was accompanied by IKV Vice-President Zeynep Bodur Okyay, IKV Chairman Advisor Can Tülümen, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, IKV Deputy Secretary General Melih Özsöz.

IKV Chairman Vardan gave detailed information on the activities carried out by IKV and the foreseen projects within IKV’s 2014-2015 work program. IKV Chairman Vardan expressed his wish to enhance further cooperation with the Consulate General of Germany in Istanbul.

When discussing on Turkey’s EU accession process, IKV Chairman Vardan pointed out to the continuous support shown by the Turkish business sector for Turkey’s EU membership and for the ongoing negotiation process. Vardan insisted on the importance of opening new chapters to negotiations in order to overcome the stagnation witness within the technical process. He further stated that both Turkey and the EU should meet their obligations to ensure a more dynamic accession process.

On the other hand, the German Consul General her Excellency Jutta Wolke mentioned that Turkey was an important partner for Germany. She also believes that the accession process will be accelerated once these technical obstacles will be lifted. The Consul General of Germany also underlined the importance to carry our projects targeting the public opinion in both Turkey and EU Member States. In this framework, she ensued that the Consulate General of Germany was looking forward in enhancing cooperation within these projects.
