Consul General of Netherlands in Istanbul, his Excellency Robert Schuddeboom visited IKV on the 13rd August 2014. The Consul General of Netherlands his Excellency Schuddeboom accompanied by the representative of  the Trade Department of the Consulate Mustafa Başaran visited IKV Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan at IKV’s Head Office in Istanbul. IKV Vice-President Prof. Dr. Halûk Kabaalioğlu, IKV Secretary-General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, Deputy-Secretary General and Research Director Melih Özsöz and Advisor to President Can Tülümen also attended to the meeting.

During the meeting, IKV Chairman Vardan gave detailed information on the various activities carried out by IKV especially in regards to the visa issue and Readmission Agreement, the new generation of free trade agreements and Turkey’s EU negotiation process. IKV Chairman also briefly mentioned the future projects foreseen in 2015 within the IKV who will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. IKV Chairman and the Consul General of Netherlands also explored the possible areas of further cooperation. 

In regard to Turkey’s EU accession process, Consul General his Excellency Schuddeboom ensured that the Netherlands was supporting Turkey’s accession and further explained that in the upcoming period the Europe will become the only option for Turkey. He stated that the Consulate was making their best effort to facilitate the visa procedures applied towards Turkish citizens.
