IKV Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan and the Board of Directors held a press conference on the 12th March 2014.

The Press Conference was attended by IKV Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan along with:

• Vice President Zeynep Bodur Okyay,
• Member of the Executive Board Responsible for Accounts Mehmet Nuri Görenoğlu,
• Members of the Executive Board Yavuz Canevi, Hikmet Tanrıverdi and Baha Telli,
• Members of the Board of Directors Atila Menevşe, İlhan Soylu, Işınsu Kestelli, Münir Üstün, İlyas Gençoğlu and Ahmet Sayrar,
• Audit Committe Members Kenan Atalay and Hasan Hüseyin Coşkun.

At the Press Conference, IKV Chairman Ömer Cihad Vardan presented the members of the board of directors. 
In his speech, Chairman Vardan gave an overview of the latest developments in regards to Turkey’s EU accession process. He also evaluated the latest important domestic and international developments.  He drew attention to the recent crisis in Ukraine and Crimea and noted the danger inherent in the creation of new faultlines in Europe. Vardan also mentioned the Turkey Report of the European Parliament adopted on the 12th of March, and noted the call for the completion of the Constitutional process in Turkey.

Vardar also stressed that such developments in Turkey’s vicinity such as the Syrian civil war and Crimean crisis drewTurkey and EU together since the common aims of democracy, peace and stability are mutually shared. He further emphasized the importance of EU as a model for the ongoing economic and political reforms in Turkey. At the end of the conference, Vardan explained the goals and priorities of IKV Board of Directors for the next two years and announced that they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of IKV in 2015.
