An international meeting entitled “Re-negotiate TTIP” was organised on the 17th November 2014 by the Heinrich Böll Foundation with the cooperation of the Atlantic Community and John Hopkins University in Berlin. IKV Project Director Çisel İleri participated in the panel where the potential impacts of the TTIP on the third country were discussed.
Experts from various civil society organisations and think tanks such as the Transatlantic Relations Centre, the German Marshall Fund, Germanwatch, Friends of the Earth, as well as representatives from the European Parliament, the German Parliament, the US Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU participated to this meeting where they had the opportunity to discuss the impacts of the TTIP on areas such as the climate change and environment. The potential impacts that this partnership could have on third countries were also analysed. Furthermore, the global data protection and Investor-to-State Dispute Settlement were also among the main topics discussed during the meeting. This organization gave the opportunity for the participants to analyse whether the TTIP initiative could be considered as a good response to the opportunities and risks brought by the globalisation.
