On 20 May 2021, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas attended the webinar entitled “Governing Precarity through EU-Turkey Relations” organised in association with the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) and Mercator Foundation. Assoc. Prof. Nas delivered a speech in the first panel session of the webinar held on the theme “The European Green Deal and Turkey-EU Relations” where she discussed the general framework of the European Green Deal and its potential impact on Turkey. IKV Secretary General Nas indicated that the EU aimed at becoming the first carbon-neutral continent on the planet in line with its 2030 and 2050 climate goals. Stating that the EU was undergoing a substantial transition, Assoc. Prof. Nas highlighted its importance for Turkey as a Customs Union partner and an EU candidate country. In addition, Nas stated that Turkey should revise its climate goals and pointed out to the urgency of ratifying the Paris Climate Agreement. The other panellists of the webinar moderated by Prof. Senem Aydın Düzgit from the IPC were Prof. Fikret Adaman from Boğaziçi University and Philipp Godron from Agora Energiewende.
