On 21 November 2019, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas gave a presentation in the workshop entitled “Emotions in European Foreign Policy at Populist Times” which was held at the Free University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam). During the workshop, academics and experts coming from various universities in Turkey, Belgium, UK, Ireland and the Netherlands discussed how EU foreign policy was affected by the increasing populism and how emotions such as anxiety, fear, appreciation and hate affected foreign policy and international relations.

IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Nas gave a presentation about the role of emotions in Turkey-EU relations. Noting that Turkey-EU relations are an area where emotions are felt especially at the public and elite levels, IKV Secretary General Nas addressed the effects of emotional reflexes and reactions in the public's approach to the EU and their projection into the policy-making process.
